Hatchet Bay in Eleuthera is a very impressive harbour – wide, deep and well protected on almost 4 complete sides – with a narrow 90 foot entranceway cut through the rock face. We motored out alone at the break of day and were rewarded with a gorgeous sunrise on a dead calm sea. These are the moments on holidays you remember forever – shared with new friends. In 1648 Capt Sayle and 70 english puritans were shipwrecked just off Ridley Head Beach on the Devil’s Backbone Reef off the northern tip of the Island they named Eleuthera – Greek for freedom. They found shelter in Preachers Cave just a short distance from the beach. This cave was used as their church for another hundred years as the Eleutheran Adventurers moved inland to settle. Easy to find – drive as far north as you can until you reach the end of the road. Left turn takes you to Spanish Wells – turn right at the rock to go to Preachers Cave location on google map @ www.yolotraveller.com

Hut Pointe Inn – the place you never want to leave. Loved it here. Lap of luxury, home away from home, hideaway supreme.15 mins south of Governor’s Harbour Airport – central to everything. 10 minutes to Cocodimama’s for the best beach on the Caribbean Ocean, 5 mins to Sky Beach Club for the Atlantic side beach . Or just down the road for a walk along Caribbean waters . Awesome 2 acre grounds for just walking around and enjoying the flowers and trees and listening to the birds.What a place to watch the sunset from your verenda ! Huge suites, when you see the building it’s hard to believe there’s only 7. We had the ‘small’ 800 sq ft. unit. Centralaire in EVERY room to keep you cool and the mosquitos at bay, whisper quiet fans to keep the gentle breeze flowing, a kingsize bed that you simply don’t want to get up from. A second bedroom with twin beds, a couch that folds out, lots of room, bring the whole gang. Wifi in your room, satellite TV , DVD and telephone. A complete kitchen – your own beer in your own fridge. This was our 4th island in 3 years and we had 2 weeks to see what we could see. We barely …barely scratched the surface.This is an ‘Explorers’ Island ..Literally a different cultural experience just over ..every..next hill. You have to rent a car. We rented a car for /day and Hutpointe can help you make the same arrangements. Excuse the’ lived in ‘ look ..but this is where we lived for 2 great days. And it’s the first video I have ever shot like this ..so …
