The Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera

A guide to the incredible beaches of this island in the Bahamas

Spanish Wells

Spanish Wells is a small island just a bit NorthWest of the main island of Eleuthera. It is home to mostly white Bahamians and it is a joy to listen to the unique accent these descendants of the Eleutherian Adventurers have developed.

Sometimes known to be less than friendly to tourists, we have never experienced that personally.

The Spanish Wells people are mainly fisherman who make a good living fishing mostly for lobster.

This is certainly worth the short water taxi ride to visit. Also, the Bo Hengy, a high-speed catamaran from Nassau, stops here on a daily basis.
