Located in the Rainbow Bay Subdivision, Driftwood Beach lives up to its name. You'll find all manner of interesting items, and lots of junk, washed up here.
This postage stamp-sized beach has slightly coarse, loosely packed sand. This beach is also called Come ‘N Go Beach (apparently there used to be a sign to that effect), but we dubbed it Driftwood Beach because of the amount of wood that has washed up on shore. On rough days the waves can be quite spectacular. If you walk north along Ocean Drive, you’ll see where Hurricane Andrew took out a big chunk of the road. It’s pretty impressive. Walk a little bit South over the rock (be sure to have good shoes, the rocks are sharp) and check out the “portal” formation in the water. It’s fascinating to watch the waves pour through the portal.
