While in the Coconut Forest, be sure to visit the beach at Half Sound as well. We’re not sure we can actually call this an Atlantic side beach, even though it is, technically, on the Atlantic side of the island. But, as it is in a well-protected sound, the water is generally calm and shallow but the bottom can be a bit mushy in spots, particularly where there is vegetation growing. The beach is actually quite long and you can walk for a fair distance exploring towards Crown Point.
