The Caribbean side is where you'll find most of the calm, shallow beaches on Eleuthera.
Generally the bottom is sandy and relatively flat for a hundred feet or more from shore but the land portion is often fairly narrow.
The Caribbean side beaches are more easily accessible and so offer less privacy but the constant depth and lack of waves makes for the best swimming experience.
