Governor's Harbour is a vibrant community and the seat of government for Eleuthera. Ivan Ferguson is the current Island Administrator for Eleuthera. The Government building houses his office as well as the Post Office and the courts.
You'll often see several pleasure boats anchored in the bay. Supply ships bring everything from vehicles, to building supplies and more into the Government dock You'll also find a couple of large grocery stores, a police station, many restaurants of various sizes, and some boutiques as well as the Haynes Library that boasts high-speed Internet.

Governor’s Harbour and Anchor Bay beach are separated only by the causeway to Cupid’s Cay. You’ll see many ocean-going vessels come into the government dock in Governor’s Harbour as well as the Bo Hengy hydrofoil on Fridays and Sundays. Anchor Bay is the site of a fish fry every Friday night. These beaches are an easy walk from The Duck Inn and downtown Governor’s Harbour. Frequently you can purchase freshly caught fish (and lobster in season) from the local fishermen. Check out the concrete boat ramp at the main intersection (there was a traffic light but it’s not working right now) in the afternoons to see what’s available.
